What is HDMI 2.0?

HDMI 2.0 is the latest HDMI standard for HDMI equipment such as the new 4K Ultra HD Tv's. The cables themselves have not changed at all and all of the HDMI cables we sell will work with HDMI 2.0 devices.

Does HDMI 2.0 require new cables?

No, HDMI 2.0 features will work with existing HDMI cables. Higher bandwidth features, such as 4K@50/60 (2160p) video formats, will require existing High Speed HDMI cables (Category 2 cables).

In summary, you can keep those cables. HDMI 2.0 is backwards-compatible with previous versions, and also uses the same cables and connectors. So while you may spend a few thousand dollars on a 4K TV, you at least won’t have to buy all new cables.

If you already have a HDMI cable that you know is officially certified as a High Speed cable, then you don’t need to make a new purchase. In fact, all of the Jamell Branded HDMI Cables supplied since Jun 2007 are High Speed HDMI cables are capable of supporting every single feature of HDMI right up to HDMI v2.0.
